We’ve helped thousands of men in Indianapolis to overcome ED. As you can imagine, we’ve been asked about every treatment in existence, because most men will try just about anything to get rid of ED. One that’s become increasingly popular is the use of shockwave therapy.
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy, more professionally known as low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy, is a treatment involving the use of a medical device that sends shockwaves into the penis, causing miniscule injuries called “microtraumas”. Once incurred, these microtraumas are healed through the body’s natural healing process.
The idea behind shockwave therapy as an erectile dysfunction treatment, is that this healing process can help to repair penile tissue, allowing for natural and random erections.
Many providers of shockwave therapy for ED treatment suggest at least 12 treatment sessions, each of which include 15 minutes of a medical professional up close and personal, applying the device directly to your penis and the surrounding areas.
Does Shockwave Therapy Work?
Sometimes. This treatment is primarily geared towards those who have ED for physical reasons, which is certainly not the only cause for most men. Though studies have shown around 60% effectiveness, the sample sizes on the research are quite small compared to many treatments that exist.
One thing to note is this ED treatment has been found to be effective for those with very mild erectile dysfunction. For those who did experience positive results, changes were noticeable after about 1-3 months, but within 6 months most people see a return to normal issues.
Does Men’s Health Solutions Offer Shockwave Therapy?
Though an interesting approach that we do keep an eye on, the treatment remains relatively new, and largely experimental. Being experimental and not sufficiently proven doesn’t meet our standards at Men’s Health Solutions. We are the highest rated men’s health clinic in Indianapolis because we focus on treatments that work.
While we are certainly on the cutting edge with available treatments, we care far more about using proven treatments for our patients, and for us, the effectiveness isn’t dependable enough to offer it.
We simply believe there are many better options to treat our patients.
