Researchers at the University of Otago in New Zealand and the University of Dundee say people should be eating a minimum of 25 grams of fiber per day which they call “adequate”. There are benefits of pushing beyond 30 grams. Most people are eating less than 20 grams of fiber.

* Swap White Bread, Pasta and Rice for Wholemeal versions.
* Choose high fiber breakfast cereals such as Oats.
* Putting some chickpeas, beans and lentils in a stew, curry or over a salad.

* Consuming at least 5 portions of fruit or vegetables each day.
